The Social Studio fashion parade @ Federation Square

The Social Studio was officially launched with a fashion parade at Federation Square on
December 5, 2009. The collections displayed pieces that students had created. It was a vibrant
night that showcased students wares and created a uzz for the enterprise.

Since the launch in December, The Social Studio have been involved with the Sustainable
Living Festival, will be collaborating with Hunter Gatherer, which is a Brotherhood of St Lawrence
initiative, with students designing unique, recycled pieces and showcasing them in a street
parade at the beginning of March. 

TSS have also released the first issue of Bespoken, a four-page lift-out section in The Migrant Newspaper,
which features yarraReporter content and has had a print-off of 5000 copies, as well as an online version.

The Social Studio was created by Grace Mcquilten and is a training initiative for refugees in fashion design,
located at 128 Smith Street, Collingwood. On site there is a retail store, training ground and cafe serving
up delicious food and coffee.
